Pink Dot is one of the four chinstraps that hatched at the zoo this year, alongside the four gentoo chicks. Her sibling is orange, and the two are known for the waterproof marker dots that keepers used as ID badges to tell them apart when they were young. (These dots have long since faded away.) Keepers know Pink Dot for her easygoing demeanor—though clearly, she's not afraid to speak her mind on this blog.
I know this blog is supposed to be about us, the Real Chicks, but we really ought to give credit where credit is due. After all, our people put up with a lot from us during those first, feisty months.
How many "firsts" can you remember—first day of school? First friend? First date? Being birds, our babyhood went by in the blink of an eye, but those early milestones are etched in our memories. In fact I'm getting misty just thinking about all those landmark moments.
I'll be the first to admit it: We were adorable. We've all grown up and matured by now…but who can resist a baby album?
